RIOJA RAMÓN BILBAO EDICIÓN LIMITADA
In one of the best areas in Rioja Alta, at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, is Finca Valpierre, where they grow the Tempranillo grapes that will result in their bodega´s "enfant terrible".
GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Riojan Tempranillo.
HARVEST
When the grapes at Finca Valpierre attain their optimum ripeness (last week in October) they selectively harvest the best clusters of Tempranillo. The 2010 growth cycle had a very favourable weather which allowed for optimum vegetative and sanitary conditions until the end of the cycle. Flowering and fruit set were slightly delayed but a good number of medium-size clusters were obtained. The grape harvest began on the usual dates and they enjoyed a dry and sunny weather what helped the grapes in reaching a high level of ripening with an excellent healthy state thanks to the lack of pests and diseases. This harvest has been officially rated as EXCELLENT by the Rioja Control Board.
VINIFICATION
Selection of 986 barrels from which we obtained 267.160 bottles (750 ML) and 11.100 Magnum bottles (150 ML). At the bodega´s sorting table we choose only the best clusters, those with perfect berries, to ferment them in oak vats at controlled temperatures. They aged the wine for fourteen months in new French and American oak casks. They then complete the ageing process in our underground bottle racks for a further ten months.
TASTING
Intense cherry red colour. On the nose it shows suggestive fine fruit aromas floral tones and white wood tinged with notes of well measured ageing and touches of shrubland. On the palate it is fluid and balanced, serious, flavourful and with spirit. It keeps a liveliness in its pleasant and persistent mouth feel.
SERVING & PAIRING
Ideal serving temperature between 18-20 ºC (64,4- 68ºF). Perfect with beef, smoked cuts and international cuisine (sushi, Tex-Mex, curry, etc.)
