The history of José Luis Mateos, S.L.(Vega de Caceses) started in 1946, when the Mateos family entered into the business of producing Pimentón de La Vera.

Since the very beginning, José Luis Mateos has been a family affair, started by Isidro Mateos Pérez, who was later joined by his son, José Luis Mateos, who the company was named after. 

It has now been taken over by the third generation of this family.

BITTERSWEET SMOKED PAPRIKA

Made from freshly harvested peppers smoked  over oak wood fires, bittersweet smoked paprika has a mildly piquant, intensely smoky flavor that sets it apart from the bland grocery store paprika most of us are used to buying.

A dash of pimentón will transform homemade stews and sauces with its smoky, rich flavor. Sprinkle it on deviled eggs, potatoes or any number of seafood and meat dishes.
